Sofia Belen has been a mover all of her life. Originally a modern dancer in New York City, she found that the rigors of this lifestyle were not conducive to a healthy mind or body. When a yoga instructor asked her to “do less” in class, it became clear that she had been doing so much, too much, for quite some time. She began to find flexibility within softness, and strength within ease. Sofia conveys the beauty of “doing less” in her classes, encouraging students to practice non-harm towards themselves, and creating an environment that supports self-confidence, humor, and community.
Benjamin Flowers graduated from The Yoga Room’s 500 hour teacher training program in 2013. His primary teacher is Mary Lou Weprin, a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and Co-Director of the Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies program. He is also certified as an Elise Browning Miller Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher Trainer. Benjamin seeks to find the intricacies within every asana and believes even the most elementary of postures has the ability to transform your mind. He strives to create a practice accessible to all bodies, using refined instruction, partner work, artful sequencing, and props. Everyone in a body can experience the joy that is Yoga!
