Yoga for Healthy Bones

Do you have osteoporosis or osteopenia currently and want to practice yoga in a safe environment? Or do you want to prevent developing osteoporosis? If the answer is YES, then this class is for you! In conjunction with an ongoing Yoga For Osteoporosis study by Dr. Loren Fishman, The Yoga Room will offer an ongoing practice centered around the core twelve poses that are the hallmark of his current bone study. We will practice the series with variations to keep it interesting and fun. The emphasis will be on safe ways to practice yoga to build bone health. You do not have to be enrolled in Dr. Fishman’s study to join, but we welcome all Bay Area residents who are currently in his study.

Shari Ser, PT, RYT 500, E-RYT 500, has over 30 years of physical therapy Ser_100clinical practice and experience and expertise teaching yoga for a wide range of medical conditions. Shari combines her expertise as a physical therapist and a long-time yoga practitioner to make her classes safe and accessible to all students who want to practice yoga. Shari teaches beginner Level 1–3 classes, and she co-teaches a Yoga for Healthy Aging class for community seniors at The Yoga Room. She is a faculty member of The Yoga Room Advanced Studies Program.
