with Jim Stockton & Yolanda Williams
Saturday, August 12, 4–6pm | $25 – REGISTER
Jim Stockton is collaborating with sound healer Yolanda Williams, a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies program in Sound, Voice & Music in the Healing Arts. Together they will explore how tone, music and rhythm can enhance our awareness of the vibrational quality of subtle energies. The workshop will use the themes of Fire and Space – here in the peak of summer – to build a warming yoga practice that is shaped to contain, clear and balance the heat of the season.
Jim Stockton has been teaching yoga in the SF Bay Area, in a number of therapeutic or clinical settings, since the end of the 1990s. In 2003, he graduated from the The Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies Program. Since then, he has worked within and outside of the Iyengar community, primarily with Mary Lou Weprin and Michael Lucy; but also holding extensive retreats with Tias Little, Sarah Powers, and Dharmanidhi Saraswati; and further study within Zen, Vajrayana, and Vipassana meditation traditions. Most recently, Jim’s work has focused on Trauma recovery—both in a San Francisco mental health clinic (Dept of Public Health); working with Vets and PTSD; and observing Japanese yoga teachers work with the trauma sufferers immediately following the Fukushima tsunami/nuclear accident.
