Learn the Ropes | April

Come learn how to practice on our new rope wall system. Mary Lou Weprin will guide us in learning rope techniques for standing poses, inversions, backbends and forward bends to enhance alignment, take weight off the joints, provide weightless extension and traction and feel the exhilaration of freedom from gravity. Working with the ropes gives therapeutic symmetry and alignment difficult to achieve on our own, and can help us better understand how to work in the poses to create space. Use of ropes walls has always been part of the Iyengar system, at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune, India, and in many Iyengar studios around the world. Thanks to generous donations from our Yoga Room Community and graduating classes, we can now benefit from this new dimension of practice. All levels welcome.
Mary Lou Weprin taught a popular ropes practice class for over three years at the Oakland Yoga Studio, and she is very happy to now bring ropes practice techniques to The Yoga Room community. Mary Lou has been teaching all levels of practice at The Yoga Room for over 30 years, and with Donald Moyer, co-founded the Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies Program. She teaches ongoing classes and workshops here, around the U.S., and in Canada.
