Teaching of Restorative Poses I
with Bonnie Maeda
Saturday, January 5th | 2-5pm
This two-part workshop will give teachers and students becoming teachers an opportunity to collaborate and share experiences on the teaching of a restorative practice. We will discuss the principals of relaxation and how to sequence a beneficial practice.
The first workshop will focus on back bends (chest openers), and twists. In each of these classes the students will work with partners setting each other up in a pose, and learning how to individualize the pose for their partner’s needs.
Bonnie Maeda, RN, graduated from The Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies Program in 2002, and she currently teaches Restorative Yoga at The Yoga Room. She is a Certified Advanced Relax and Renew Teacher with Judith Hanson Lasater’s Program. Bonnie also teaches Yoga for Health and Healing at several women’s centers in the Bay Area. She believes a restorative practice on its own, or integrated into a more active practice, can improve one’s overall health, manage stress, and contribute to a wonderful sense of well being.
