with Bonnie Maeda
Saturday, September 28th | 2-5pm
In this workshop we will discuss the benefits of yoga for overall health as well as for individuals living with a chronic illness. These illnesses include conditions such as cancer, arthritis, heart and lung conditions, and Parkinsons disease. Many studies have now demonstrated how yoga can help manage stress, and improve cardiac and pulmonary function.
We will then move through a gentle practice including breathing awareness and body awareness, which aids in releasing tension and feeling more focused and grounded. The sequence will also include asana and restorative poses. No previous yoga experience is required. It will be helpful for each participant to be able to get up and down off the floor.
Bonnie Maeda, RN, teaches Restorative Yoga and co-teaches Yoga For Health at The Yoga Room as well as at several Bay Area hospitals and Women’s Centers. She is certified by the Arthritis Foundation and also as an “Advanced Relax and Renew” teacher from Judith Hanson Lasater’s program. Her approach is gentle yoga for health and healing as well as restorative yoga to promote relaxation and manage stress. She believes in the benefits of yoga for every age, body type, and ability.
