with Gay White
Saturday, June 15th | 2-5pm
*Please note that the time of this workshop has changed from 1-4pm to 2-5pm*
During this afternoon practice we will move through structured sequences of asanas. These movement phrases are the basic groundwork for creating sustained periods of awareness and experiencing the joy of a group moving together. This is a workshop for those practicing yoga. No dance experience is necessary.
Gay White studied dance composition and improvisation at Naropa Institute in the 1970s and choreography in the 1980s and has been making dances since 1975. She began teaching yoga and an innovative blend of dance and yoga, Yoga Movement in 1989. After studying at the Yoga Room in Berkeley for many years, she is now the Director of the studio and co-director with Mary Lou Weprin of the Yoga Room Advanced Studies Program– a 500-hour program training teachers. Gay founded the Yoga Garden Dancers, a group of dancers and yogis who perform her choreography. She created ten evening-length works of original dance with original musical scores.
